Area residents will soon have more quick-serve food and beverage options in Flossmoor. At its meeting on Monday, Feb. 2, the Flossmoor Board of Trustees unanimously passed an ordinance approving an amendment to a final plan for re-subdivision of 3900 Vollmer Road. This ordinance gives the green light for the construction of a Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant featuring a drive-through and patio, plus a double drive-through 7 Brew, in an outlot located near the Flossmoor Meijer Superstore.
Chipotle, based in Denver, Colo., is a quick-serve Mexican concept that is known for being committed to sustainability, preparing fresh food daily, and offering good benefits and opportunities for employees, such as education assistance and retirement savings. More than 4,000 locations are open throughout the country.
“I’m a huge fan of Chipotle and their family- and allergen-free food options, and am so pleased to welcome their newest design concept to the Village,” says Mayor Michelle Nelson. “Chipotle is a great fit for Flossmoor.”
Founded in Rogers, Ark., in 2017, 7 Brew is a beverage business that handcrafts iced and hot drinks to order, offering more than 20,000 flavor options and customizations, such as milk alternatives and sugar-free options. This fast-growing chain claims a mission to "Cultivate Kindness," and it gives back to communities through its 7 Brew Heroes program. Nearly 30 new locations opened across the U.S. in January.
“If you can’t find something that wets your whistle at a 7 Brew, then it doesn’t exist anywhere. The nearest location is in Indiana, and it has become a destination,” says Nelson. “Besides expanding quick-serve options in our Village, both new stores will also create great job opportunities for residents from entry level to store management.”
The project developer, Joseph Development Flossmoor Outlot B LLC, is expected to begin construction on the restaurants this spring with anticipated completion in the fall. The location is part of an expanding retail area in Flossmoor, anchored by a Meijer Superstore that opened in 2016. Infrastructure improvements to streets, sewers and water in this area were paid for with Village TIF funding to facilitate future developments. There are three additional outlots available for development, plus approximately 30 acres of Village-owned land east of Meijer that is accepting development proposals through the Southland Development Authority.
