The Public Works Department is committed to maintaining its road network in a manner that provides safe passage for travelers, delivers adequate ride comfort, and helps to maintain an inviting community. Each year, the Village Board approves the expenditure of funds for rehabilitation of the Village’s streets on an annual basis.
The Motor Fuel Tax Street Resurfacing Program is an annual project that includes asphalt resurfacing, removal and replacement of selected areas of concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter removal and replacement, pavement striping, ADA improvements, and other miscellaneous items.
2025-26 Fiscal Year
In Fiscal Year 2025-26 the Village contracted with J&J Newell Concrete Construction for concrete removal and replacement. Concrete work will occur beginning Friday, Sept. 26, on:
- Markey Lane
- MacHeath Crescent
- Braemer Road
- Poplar Road
- Maple Road
On Oct. 20 & 21, D Construction will complete the asphalt paving of the streets on the project, weather pending. Some streets will receive both leveling binder and surface course, and some streets will only receive surface course. For the streets that will receive both leveling binder and surface course, the leveling binder will be paved first immediately followed by the surface course. Below is the estimated order in which the streets will be completed:
- Harvard Rd – surface course
- Markey Ln – leveling binder and surface course
- Bunker Ave – leveling binder and surface course
- MacHeath Cr – leveling binder and surface course
- Braemar Rd – leveling binder and surface course
- Poplar Rd – surface course
- Maple Rd – surface course
2024-25 Fiscal Year
In Fiscal Year 2024-25 the Village contracted with Gallagher Asphalt to repair and/or replace 1.15 miles of roadway on seven streets:
- Poplar Place (Flossmoor Rd. to Poplar Rd.)
- Poplar Road (Poplar Pl. to Elm St.)
- Berry Lane (Scott Cr. to Bob-O-Link Rd.)
- Oakmont Avenue (Maryland Ave. to Sunset Ave.)
- Caddy Street (ICRR to Western Ave.)
- Vardon Lane (Western Ave. to Hutchison Rd.)
- Travers Lane (Hutchison Rd. to Collett Ln.)
