Senior Services

Senior support services are an important part of aging in place and remaining independent for as long as possible. The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District offers programming and events all year round, and both Rich Township and Bloom Township offer a host of services and resources to Flossmoor seniors, based on your location.

Homewood-Flossmoor Park District

Active seniors can enjoy activities and personal enrichment at the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District's Irwin Community Center, 18120 S. Highland Ave., Homewood. A varied schedule of activities is provided each week to help seniors meet their social, fitness, and leisure needs. There are no membership fees, and many programs are free or low-cost to Flossmoor residents. Drop-in programs include:

  • Bid Whist (Fridays, 6 p.m.)
  • Bingo (Thursdays, Noon)
  • Current Events Club (Thursdays, 10 a.m.)
  • Country Western Line Dancing (Fridays, 10 a.m.)
  • Senior Line Dancing (Mondays, 10 a.m.)

Rich Township

If you are age 50 years old and older or are disabled, live in Rich Township, and have an established need for supportive services, the Rich Township Senior Services Department is available to serve you. Visit www.richtownship.org/seniors to start exploring the available resources today.

  • Arts & crafts
  • Monthly social outings
  • AARP meetings
  • Extend-A-Meal
  • Transportation shuttle services to medical appointments, grocery stores or the senior center

  • In-home support (light housekeeping & home-delivered meals)

Bloom Township

The Bloom Township Senior Services Department is a welcoming place where seniors can seek answers to their problems, questions, or concerns in a kind, courteous, and pleasing manner. Interested in learning more about Bloom Township Senior Services? Senior Services staff is available to visit your senior center, church, civic group, or housing location to give presentations on the Senior Service Programs. Medicare benefits, state and federal assistance programs, and other pertinent topics for seniors and their caregivers can be presented.
