South Suburban Food Pantries
The Village of Flossmoor has compiled a list of area food pantries that serve for people experiencing food insecurity, as well as for individuals interested in donating or volunteering. Many food pantries in the South Suburbs are supported by the Greater Chicago Food Depository, a non-profit organization that strives to end hunger by connecting neighbors with healthy food and advancing solutions that address the root causes of hunger. - Wednesdays 3-6 p.m.
- Thursdays 9 a.m.-Noon
- Fridays 2-4 p.m.
This pantry — offered in collaboration with the Greater Chicago Food Depository — is open for residents of Chicago Heights, Flossmoor, Hazel Crest and Homewood, as well as unhoused individuals. Pantry visitors can shop with dignity choosing their own perishable and non-perishable food items, and oftentimes also clothing and other special items. Volunteers and donations are always welcome.
