Rain and hot weather, which have been abundant this spring, are the main ingredients for tall, uneven grass growth. It is a violation of Village code to permit any weeds, grass or plants, other than trees, bushes, flowers or other ornamental plants, to grow to a height exceeding eight inches on unimproved property and five inches on improved property anywhere in the Village. It is also the responsibility of property owners to mow the parkway adjacent to their homes and road.
The Village addresses tall grass and weed complaints by visiting the property or contacting the owner, landlord or property manager. The Village issues a notice to comply within three days. The Village may also mow the property without notice and charge the owner or place a lien on the property, if the issue is unresolved.
Did you know that keeping yards free of tall grass and weeds can prevent mosquitos, rodents and wildlife from invading your property and creating hazards to you, your family and your neighbors? Keep your yard healthy this summer!
