COIVD-19 Pandemic Updates
Flossmoor Village Hall and the Department of Public Works will reopen to the public on Thursday, January 21. This reopening is in response to the update to Tier 2 COVID-19 mitigations for suburban Cook County. Residents are encouraged to continue doing business with the Village remotely, when possible.
Visitors are required to wear a mask or face covering while doing business in Village Hall or other Village buildings.
All visitors will be screened for a high temperature. Two temperature screening stations are set up at Village Hall. One is located in the lobby near the front desk. The other is located near the Board Room. Any visitor with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher will be rescanned once. If the second screening is not below 100.4, you will be asked to leave and encouraged to conduct business remotely.
How to do business remotely with the Village:
The public is encouraged to continue to conduct business via mail, drop box, email or phone.
Water bill payments may be dropped off in the drop boxes in the Village Hall parking lot (no cash) or the Police Department (cash accepted). Payments can also be made online here.
Water Billing and Late Fees:
The Village understands that the past several months have been difficult for some Flossmoor families and as a result, last fall and winter the Village relaxed late fees. However, on September 1, 2020, the Village announced that it would resume water shut offs for unpaid balances on January 1, 2021.
New Water Accounts:
Application for new water/sewer accounts will be processed electronically. You can email a copy of the required documents to firstname.lastname@example.org or drop them off at the Police Department. Find out more about the required documents here. (The HP Smart app is available for Android and iPhone and will allow you to use a mobile device to scan to PDFs.)
Vehicle Stickers and Animal Tags:
Vehicle sticker and animal tags applications may be mailed or dropped off in the Village’s parking lot or Police Department drop boxes. Late fees were waived for 2020, so any resident needing to purchase a vehicle sticker or animal tag should do so now before the 2021 sticker season. Anyone who has not purchased a vehicle sticker in 2020 will be required to purchase a 2020 sticker during the 2021 sticker renewal time period.
Building Permits and Inspections:
Apply for a Building Permit online to be notified as the permit moves through the approval process or visit our Permit Fact Sheets and Applications to download and print the application. If you need a copy emailed or mailed please let us know. Hard copies are also available in the Police Department lobby.
Completed applications should be emailed, faxed or returned via U.S. Mail along with any supporting documents (contractor requirements, signed copy of the contract, plat, etc.) and a check with the cost if known. Completed applications can also be dropped off at the drop boxes in the Village Hall parking lot or Police Department lobby. Once your application is processed, we will send an invoice. Invoices may be paid by check (please include the invoice) via mail or drop box in the Village Hall parking lot or Police Department lobby. At this time, we are unable to accept payments over the phone or online.
We will then fax the completed permit, email a PDF copy of the permit or the permit can be mailed to you via U.S. Mail. We can also make arrangements for permit pickup at the Police Department.
