Information for Candidates for April 2, 2019 Election

As a courtesy to prospective candidates for municipal and library elected office for the April 2, 2019 consolidated election, the Village will provide the suggested forms from the State of Illinois which candidates may wish to use to prepare the filing of nomination papers.  The following forms will be provided STARTING SEPTEMBER 18:

               -Petition for Nomination Sheets

               -Statement of Candidacy

               -Loyalty Oath (optional)

In addition to the above, each candidate must file a statement of economic interest with the County Clerk before the close of the filing period for nomination papers (December 17, 2018) and include a copy of the filing receipt with their nominating papers.

The minimum number of signatures required on the petition sheets for a candidate to appear on the April 2, 2019 ballot for Trustee is 131.  The maximum number of signatures allowed is 209. To appear on the ballot for Library Trustee, the required number of signatures is 25.

Important election dates are:

First date to pick up petitions at Village Hall                           September 18, 2018

First date to circulate petitions                                                September 18, 2018

First date to file petitions                                                         December 10, 2018

Last date to file petitions                                                         December 17, 2018

Last date to file objections to nominating petitions                 December 26, 2018

Election Day                                                                            April 2, 2019

Please understand that the Village is providing these forms and information as a courtesy.  Candidates remain responsible for compliance with all election laws including filing requirements and sufficiency of forms.  Helpful information is available in the State of Illinois Handbook “Candidate’s Guide 2019” which may be obtained when available from the State Board of Elections at 217-782-4141 or at  All election information should be confirmed through your attorney or the State Board of Elections.  The Village is prohibited from giving legal advice.
