Mutual Aid Membership

The Flossmoor Police Department contribute personnel to the following specialty units which assist the department and other departments in times of need.

South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force
A multi-agency investigations unit comprised of investigators from suburban Cook County agencies. This group of investigators assists the Flossmoor Police Department with the investigation of major crimes in the Village of Flossmoor.

Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team (SMART)
A multi-agency accident investigation team made up of accident investigators from surrounding suburban agencies. This group of accident investigators assists the Flossmoor Police Department with the investigation of major traffic crashed in the Village of Flossmoor.

South Suburban Emergency Response Team (SSERT)
A multi-agency tactical swat team comprised of officers from police, fire, and rescue agencies. The team is responsible for the protection of approximately 60,000 residents in an area that is over 150 square miles. The mission of SSERT is to provide member agencies with a tactical response to critical incidents, which are defined as but no limited to the following:
  • Armed/Suicidal Subject(s)
  • Barricaded Subject(s)
  • Civil Disturbances
  • Dignitary Protection
  • Disaster Assistance
  • High-Risk Apprehension
  • High-Risk Warrant Service
  • Hostage Situations
  • Sniper Situations
  • Special Assignments
  • Terrorist Incidents
Network 3 Tac Unit
A multi-agency tactical unit comprised of officers from the network 3 radio frequency. This group of tactical officers concentrates on problem areas or "hot spots" within municipalities of the network 3 radio frequency. This unit also assists with personnel during the formation of large events.

Suburban Association of Chiefs of Police Honor Guards
The Honor Guard has performed in such ceremonies as posting the colors at community events, wreath laying ceremonies in Springfield, Illinois at the State Memorial, and in Washington, D.C. at the National Memorial. They have performed as the color guard in local parades and as a rifle team in funerals. The officers have performed full honor funerals for officers killed in the line of duty, and other non-duty related funerals.
